History | |||
The Liverpool steamer Merchant Prince, from West African porte, arrived in the Mersey on Monday with her bows badly stove in. Her master reported that on Sunday, while of Tuskar, she was in collision with the Hungarian brig Hera, which was so badly damaged as to sink in four minutes. Her crew, numbering nine hands, and the captain's wife, had not time to launch a boat, but scrambled into a Norwegian canoe, which they threw into the water, and were afterwards rescued by the steamer's lifeboats. The Bristol Mercury and Daily Post, Saturday, February 14, 1891
