The John and Mary -- Gaul, Master, lately stranded at Bray Head, was beat to pieces on the rocks.
The Right Hon the Earl of Meath Lord-Lieutenant and Custos Rotulorum of the county of Wicklow, took all imaginable care of the said ship and cargo, kept off the country people from plundering, sent a party of foot to preserve the goods and sailors and gave all the assistance which could possibly be given his lordship upon many such occasions hath given proofs of his tenderness and compassion to persons in the like distress.
