THE LOSS OF THE CELTIC MONARCH

Particulars have reached Liverpool of the abandonment of the Celtic Monarch steamship whilst on a voyage from Cardiff to Philadelphia. The vessel left Cardiff on the 2nd inst. She encountered very severe weather her rudder and rudder post were carried away and she was taken in tow by the Knight Errant but the tow-ropes broke.

Subsequently the Beaver steam ship Lake Superior came across her and after much trouble succeeded in taking off the crew of thirty hands with the exception of two men who were drowned. The rescued crew arrived at Liverpool on Saturday
