Loss of the Saracen

The packet ship Saracen Captain Hawkins from New York to Glasgow was stranded on the west end of the island of Rathlin on the Irish coast during a thick fog on Monday the 19th current. Fortunately the passengers and crew together with a part of the cargo were saved but from the severity of the gale experienced in that quarter on Thursday there is reason to fear she will become a total wreck.
