Tyro , M'Farlane , hence at Lisbon on the 28th ult picked up the crew (except captain, mate and steward ) of the Brig Southampton, Walker of and from Glasgow for Naples wrecked on the Arklow bank the Previous night.

The following is a Transcript of a letter From Margaret Simpson in Kincardine to her husband James Simpson working for the Hudson's Bay Company on the northwest coast of America . the Letter relates to her brother Charles Cunningham, her mother's brother, William Walker who were Master and 1st Mate on a Brig Southampton

" I am very soory to relate to you about the death of my brother Charls and William Walker. tha joined a Brig at Glasgow bound for Napels the one Master and the other Mate and Walter Walker 2 Mate. Tha went ashore on Arkley Banks on the 27 of Feberury. tha put down one boat trieng to safe thare lifes and it fild with water and went down and tha had lanched the other and after all was in the boat only Walker and the Cook and Charls the Peanter brock and left them on the Wreck and thare was not the smalest bit of her to be seen. the next morning Walter Walker and the rest of the Crew was picted up and brought to London. Dear James we get many warings to be preparing fore Death o that we ware at all times ready "
