ANOTHER WRECK ON THE BLACKWATER BANK

On Saturday morning last there being a dense fog, and the wind blowing a stiff gale from the S.S.W. at the time the fine Brig Waterwitch of Whitehaven, Newby 400 tons bound from Liverpool to Barbadoes, struck on the Blackwater bank and sunk on her beam ends.

The long boat was carried away from her fastnings and one of the men dashed in to it by a succeeding wave who was thus providentially saved, as the boat was soon after washed ashore near courtown harbour All hands made the land in safely in an other boat and Mr W Powell is actively engaged in saving the cargo.

If Government and Lloyds longer defer the consideration of a safety Harbour on our south coast and a floating light in the north Bay , let the Consequences be on their heads
