Total loss of Brig and loss of life

The Brig Wentworth Beaumont which left Limerick on Tuesday bound for Shields went ashore at an early hour on Wednesday morning off Carrigaholt within a few miles of the mouth of the river Shannon.
The weather was very thick and the wind blowing stiffly from the south when the vessel struck on the rocks the Captain it appears was trying to land the pilot and while doing so the Brig was unconsciously driven ashore

The cook an English man was drowned but the Captain and the remainder of the crew were fortunately saved , the vessel has become a total wreck salvers are at work.
